Job description

Assist Fleet Technician II and Fleet Technician III in providing safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles
Learn to perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs
Learn to diagnose and repair vehicle issues to prevent roadside breakdowns, reduce vehicle downtime and improve fleet reliability
Learn to perform FAI/CVI annual inspections on tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles and other company-owned equipment
Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under guidance of senior fleet technicians or fleet management
Perform maintenance repairs, scheduled repairs, malfunction repairs and road-call repairs safely, efficiently, timely and with quality
Address driver vehicle inspection report write-ups correctly and promptly
Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, driveline, differential, steering, suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust and regeneration systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brakes, HVAC and lift-gate systems
Document all work performed on work orders using complaint, cause and correction format
Learn and develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs
Occasionally travel to other operating companies or the corporate office for training or business-continuation needs

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • No experience required
  • Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
  • Basic knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and components
  • Basic knowledge and skill in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on all equipment
  • Basic knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge
  • Technicians must own and provide all tools necessary to perform maintenance inspections, repair and diagnostics (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco)
  • Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers
  • Must complete Sysco SIU training modules for safety and other required courses
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk and hear regularly
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or crawl frequently
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs frequently
  • Excellent hand and finger dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work in wet, hot, extremely cold and/or humid conditions, around moving mechanical parts, in confined spaces, and near fumes or airborne particles
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call
