Job summary

Mechanics Hub is hiring a Fleet Diesel Mechanic in Santa Rosa, CA to repair heavy-duty collection vehicles, trailers, and processing equipment. You will diagnose diesel and CNG powertrains, hydraulic and electrical systems, and perform welding fabrication as needed.

The role requires 4+ years of journeyman experience, valid CDL within 6 months, and DOT/compliance knowledge. Union pay, ESOP, and overtime opportunities are highlighted with a swing shift.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic or equivalent
• Strong hands-on experience with diesel and/or CNG engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems
• Strong troubleshooting experience with hydraulic, electrical, steering, braking, suspension, and related heavy-duty systems
• Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical controls and fabrication tools/techniques
• Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain Class A/B CDL and DOT cert within 6 months of hire
• DOT Out-of-Service Criteria, CHP inspections, and DOT compliance experience desirable

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including powertrains and electrical systems
• Repair body systems on refuse vehicles and transfer trailers, including hydraulic and electrical components
• Maintain and repair processing equipment like balers, conveyors, and motors
• Perform fabrication and welding work using welding equipment and torches
• Inspect, test, and document repairs; keep accurate records and enter data in computer systems
• Lead daily repair work by guiding team members and reviewing work quality
