First Student in Mt Prospect, IL is seeking a Diesel Bus Technician to help maintain a reliable fleet of school buses serving thousands of students daily. You will perform preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and assist senior mechanics while following safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanic experience or recent graduation from a trade school.
• Basic hand tools and toolbox are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance services such as fluid and filter changes, greasing, and inspections.
• Conduct basic repairs and troubleshooting to ensure buses operate safely and efficiently.
• Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs to gain experience.
• Use your toolbox and hand tools to complete work accurately, following safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain consistent attendance and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance services such as fluid and filter changes, greasing, and inspections.

Must-Have Qualifications

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay rate: $28 - $32 per hour
• Shift: 9 am - 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday
