Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program, or two years of journey-level mechanic experience including diesel work.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Active Pennsylvania CDL with air brake restriction removed and Tank Vehicle Endorsement is required on day one.
• Medical Examiner’s Certificate and PA Inspection Mechanic Certification are required on day one.
• DOT training must be completed during the probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Repair: Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other major components
• Preventative Maintenance: Carry out scheduled inspections, tune ups, diagnostics, and adjustments on vehicles and equipment
• State Inspections: Perform official safety and emissions inspections and complete required documentation
• Diagnostic Work: Use testing equipment to identify problems and determine the proper repair methods
• Safety Practices: Maintain a safe work area, report injuries or hazards, and follow proper protective procedures
• Shop Support: Assist other mechanics with complex repairs and help maintain accurate equipment records

You will play a key role in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for daily use. As a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

• Equipment Repair: Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other major components
• Preventative Maintenance: Carry out scheduled inspections, tune ups, diagnostics, and adjustments on vehicles and equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Work schedule is subject to change based on weather/season
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program; or
• Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed or equivalent.
• This position requires possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
• This position requires possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations on the first day of employment.
• This position requires an active Pennsylvania Class 1, Class 4 or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
• This position requires employees to pass the Department of Transportation’s New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.
