Job summary

Panasonic Avionics Corporation is seeking a Die Tech Supervisor to lead the Tool & Die team in our Sparks, NV facility. You will oversee tooling, dies, and fixtures, mentor technicians, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity while supporting new product launches.

You will optimize maintenance, track costs, drive Kaizen, and collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance to reduce downtime and improve tooling performance.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience in a technical machining/stamping and forging manufacturing environment.
  • High volume manufacturing experience strongly desired.
  • Experience with Lean and 5S systems extremely beneficial.
  • Candidates must be a good communicator and have excellent problem solving and people skills.
  • Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise production employees, handling hiring, training, performance reviews, and employee relations in alignment with company policies.
  • Provide regular feedback, conduct semi‑annual reviews, and drive team development through training workshops and mentorship.
  • Ensure production goals are met by monitoring KPIs (Safety, Quality, Production, Financial, Manpower).
  • Oversee defect, material loss, and expense trends; assign corrective actions and enforce strict control over consumables.
  • Lead Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and reduce costs.
  • Enforce safety protocols, investigate incidents, and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Conduct root‑cause analyses using 5‑WHY, 8D, fishbone, and 4M methodologies.
  • Manage die set maintenance schedules and repair tracking systems.
  • Develop and distribute reference materials, procedures, and daily work logs.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to manage spare parts inventory and evaluate supplier products.
  • Plan and execute tooling operations based on blueprints and specifications.
  • Assemble, inspect, and test dies and tools using precision instruments.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and escalate issues to support teams.
  • Work with engineering, quality, and production teams on new product launches and improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors to align cross‑departmental activities.

Responsibilities

Die Tech Supervisor

Shift: Monday-Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm

Department: Top Cap Unit - Tool & Die

Job Summary: Oversees daily operations of the Tool and Die team in the Top Cap Press area, ensuring tooling, dies, and fixtures run efficiently to meet production goals. Leads and mentors technicians, assigns tasks, and enforces safety, quality, and productivity standards. Collaborates with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support new product launches and drive continuous improvement. Manages preventative maintenance schedules, minimizes downtime, and optimizes tooling performance. Tracks parts usage, repair costs, and recommends process enhancements. Requires strong technical expertise in machining, stamping, and die maintenance, along with proven leadership and problem‑solving skills.

Essential Duties
Team Leadership & Supervision

Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Works with engineering, quality, and production teams on new product launches and improvement projects.
  • Coordinates with other supervisors to align cross‑departmental activities.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
Qualifications
Education
  • Basic/Required: High School Diploma, GED (General Education Development) or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: Technical School certification/degree and two to five years of leadership/supervisory experience working in a technical machining/stamping and forging manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
