Job summary

MiTek is seeking an experienced Die Setup & Tooling Technician to support stamping operations in Tolleson, AZ. You will set up dies, perform changeovers, maintain tooling, and troubleshoot forming issues to keep production schedules on track.

The role requires attention to safety, quality, and accuracy, with demonstrated ability to read dies and drawings, perform preventative maintenance, and work overtime when needed. Forklift experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Willing to work overtime as needed; attendance on shift is essential.
• Previous forklift experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Change components inside the die and remove/install die sections.
• Perform tooling changes and die changeovers per schedule.
• Troubleshoot forming, punch, and progression issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tooling.
• Verify dies meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Train others and provide support for Die Setters as workload allows.
• Collaborate with planners, schedulers and management to ensure dies are ready to run.
• Monitor press, tooling and secondary systems for proper operation.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY

MiTek is seeking an experienced Die Setup & Tooling Technician to support our stamping operations in Tolleson, AZ. This position is responsible for die setup, die changeovers, tooling maintenance, troubleshooting forming and progression issues, and ensuring dies are production-ready to support manufacturing schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Change various components inside the die.
• Remove and install die sections
• Work with Tool and Die for tool sharpening
• Trouble shoot forming issues, punch issues and progression issues.
• Perform tooling changes according to schedules.
• Perform required preventative maintenance.
• Assemble necessary components per documentation to strict, precision tolerances
• Verify correct die is used per customer specification, as outlined on work order
• Identify and appropriately respond to nonconforming parts
• Visually check parts for conformance with quality specified characteristics
• Complete Die Set-up check sheets and develop Die process sheets
• Provide support for Die Setters as workload allow
• Train others as needed
• Work with planners and schedulers to make sure the dies are ready to run as planned.
• Work with and communicate effectively with Management to plan for any issues that may arise.
• Monitor press, tooling and secondary systems for proper operation during manufacturing.
• Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes, but is not limited to the ability to work overtime as required, be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Effectively communicate with co-workers and management regarding work and safety issues.

Mathematical Skills:

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Comprehend job training and safety instructions.

Computer Skills:

Some PC skills helpful, but not required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Read a tape measure.

Other Qualifications:

Previous forklift experience preferred but not required.

Physical Demands:

This is a physical position that requires the individual to be able to: stand, walk and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, climb, walk up stairs and crouch. This position requires the individual to be able to communicate through speaking and hearing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the operators may be exposed to the following: moving mechanical parts, moving product parts, vibration, moving forklifts, coolants, noise levels requiring hearing protection. Exposure to environment; heat and humidity, cold, wet conditions and outside weather conditions.
