Job summary

Humanscale in Nogales, AZ, seeks a Die Casting Process Engineer to lead die casting and furnace operations, driving Lean Six Sigma improvements and creating process documentation.

You will train staff, optimize injection parameters, support new projects, and collaborate with suppliers and customers to improve quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Industrial Engineering or related degree and/or related experience.
  • 5 years minimum experience in die casting process.
  • Six Sigma Certification: Yellow Belt or Green Belt preferred.
  • Experience with AIAG Core Tools: APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, PPAP preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills required.

This role will operate under Advanced Die Casting, LLC as a whole-owned subsidiary of Humanscale.

Overview

The Die Casting Process Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting die casting and furnace operations, including oversight of die casting technicians and furnace staff. This role directs, supervises, and continuously improves die casting processes through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to support product quality, operational efficiency, and on-time delivery. Key responsibilities include defining injection parameters, developing work instructions and process documentation, training production staff, optimizing machine performance, supporting new projects, managing peripheral inventory, and driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the die casting area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead die casting technicians and furnace staff to support safe, efficient daily operations including management of furnaces.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions for die casting and furnace operations.
  • Establish and maintain process parameter sheets for die casting and furnace equipment.
  • Create and deliver training for die casting and furnace personnel.
  • Drive process improvements related to controls, SPC, data collection, efficiency, downtime reduction, new projects, and setup reduction.
  • Create and maintain AIAG Core Tools documentation, including process flow diagrams, FMEA, control plans, SPC, and PPAP documentation.
  • Manage inventory control for die casting and furnace machine peripherals.
  • Support development projects, DFM reviews, validation activities, process flow updates, and tooling improvements to enhance performance and tool life.
  • Train new team members across varying skill levels and operational responsibilities.
  • Analyze opportunities and implement improvements that advance automation within the die casting area.
  • Define and optimize injection parameters to support quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Plan and monitor new projects involving facilities, DCM machines, molds, and furnaces.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and production teams to identify projects that improve key performance indicators.
  • Lead and participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen process improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze die casting productivity, rejects, downtime, and machine efficiency data.
  • Optimize die casting processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and throughput.
  • Provide production support to resolve technical issues and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for die casting and furnace processes.
  • Perform failure analysis and implement corrective actions to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in the design and development of new die casting products and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Industrial Engineering or related degree and/or related experience.
  • 5 years minimum experience in die casting process.
  • Proficiency in CAD, CMM, and SOLID preferred.
  • Six Sigma Certification: Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Experience with AIAG Core Tools: APQP, Process Flow Diagrams, FMEA (or AMEF), Control Plans, SPC, and PPAP preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized.
  • Capable of balancing team and individual responsibilities; able to foster a strong team environment.
  • Drives strategic alignment across departments to achieve business goals.

COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to manage daily correspondence, draft documents, and track basic data.
