Job summary

Briggs & Stratton in Statesboro, GA seeks a hands-on maintenance technician to keep production humming in the die casting area. You review logs, scan SPC trends, troubleshoot a downed machine, and return equipment to service, then set up and fine-tune tools for quality output.

You perform preventive maintenance, repair plant assets, and conduct machining and bench work to modify dies, fixtures, gauges, and guarding.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Approximately 1.5 years of hands-on technical experience applying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair plant assets: building structures, electrical and heating systems, plumbing, machine components, and hydraulic systems across diverse equipment.
  • Perform machining and bench work to modify and repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and guarding.
  • Troubleshoot faults and complete corrective and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Own statistical process charting—interpret trends and adjust processes/equipment to keep parts within specification.
  • Support additional tasks as assigned to meet production goals.

A Day in the Life

You arrive to the die casting area ready to keep production humming. First up, you review overnight logs, scan SPC trends, and make targeted adjustments so parts stay within spec. A machine goes down—your mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic know‑how kicks in as you troubleshoot, repair, and return it to service. Between calls, you set up and fine‑tune equipment to ensure quality output, and you break out the bench tools to rework a fixture. Before shift end, you complete preventive maintenance so tomorrow starts strong.

How You’ll Contribute

What You Bring
  • Intermediate troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic domains.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computers for diagnostics, documentation, and SPC.
  • Capability to operate a forklift.
  • Fluent in English and the primary language used in your work area/location.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Approximately 1.5 years of hands‑on technical experience applying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills.
Physical & Environmental Realities
  • Lifting/carrying: frequently 5–25 lbs; occasionally 25–75 lbs; rarely over 75 lbs.
  • Standing and/or walking continuously through an 8–12 hour shift.
  • Occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Use of power/vibrating tools for extended periods (8–12 hours).
  • Operation of motorized vehicles throughout the shift.
  • Work in areas with noise levels requiring hearing protection for the full shift.
