Your primary focus will be maintaining consistent manufacturing output, reducing waste and equipment interruptions, and ensuring all safety and quality protocols are strictly followed.
The successful applicant will possess practical expertise in high-pressure aluminum die-casting, including setup, troubleshooting, tooling management, and process optimization. You will also provide technical mentorship, training, and problem-solving assistance to the production staff.
Operational Duties
- Execute planned and unplanned changeovers and setups for high-pressure die-casting cells in alignment with technical requirements and standard procedures.
- Track and record process variables to help ensure uniform production quality and stable operating environments.
- Safely manage the melting and delivery of molten aluminum to casting stations as needed.
- Resolve process-related complications to assist production teams in maintaining operational flow.
Quality Oversight & Control
- Work alongside Quality departments to verify that all components meet automotive quality benchmarks.
- Apply automotive Core Tools such as SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, and PPAP to enhance process control and quality outcomes.
- Utilize structured problem-solving techniques like 8D and 5-Why analysis to help prevent future defects by identifying root causes.
- Maintain accurate records of process variations, quality issues, and corrective measures within shift logs and reports.
Equipment Maintenance & Efficiency
- Coordinate necessary tooling and equipment repairs by working with Maintenance and Tool Service teams.
- Execute Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and routine preventive maintenance tasks on die-casting equipment.
- Analyze equipment performance and investigate downtime to help boost Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for the entire facility.
- Support efforts to increase equipment reliability, minimize unexpected downtime, and foster a safer working environment.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
- Direct and assist with technical improvement initiatives within the die-casting area.
- Identify specific opportunities to lower scrap rates, shorten cycle times, and optimize processes to help increase overall production efficiency.
- Provide training and support to production staff regarding process parameters, equipment usage, and quality standards.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for production teams to help cultivate a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of practical experience in high-pressure aluminum die-casting within an industrial setting.
- Prior experience in automotive manufacturing is highly valued.
- Proficiency in die-casting cell setup, changeovers, process monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with automotive quality Core Tools, including SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, and PPAP.
- Competence in root-cause analysis and problem-solving methods like 8D and 5-Why.
- Experience with tooling repair coordination, TPM, and basic preventive maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to help diagnose and resolve production process issues effectively.
- Ability to maintain precise process documentation and shift reports.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, adaptability, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to work any shift, including first, second, third, rotating, or continental shifts, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or vocational training in manufacturing or process technology.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, scrap reduction, and OEE improvement.
- Previous experience providing technical guidance or training to production employees.
