Zygo Navitar in Richmond, CA is seeking a Diamond Turning Machinist to manufacture high-precision optical components using single-point diamond turning equipment with accuracy and care.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SPDT manufacturing equipment such as Moore Nanotech, Precitech, etc.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment/process issues.

As a Diamond Turning Machinist at Zygo Extreme Precision Optics in Richmond, CA, you will work with single-point diamond turning equipment to manufacture high precision optical components.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES
  • Generate a consistent flow of high-quality work through the diamond turning departmentwithhigh-precision and detail, collaborating withsupervisionand planning group to meet on-time delivery schedules.
  • Assistin continuously improving procedures and methods with a mind toward efficiency
  • Set-up andoperateCNC diamond turning machines(Precitech700Ultra andPrecitechXNanoform) to fabricateprecision components out of various materials including aluminum, calcium fluoride, silicon, zinc selenide, among others)
  • Maintain and assemble diamond tools in tool holders and positioning of tools in machine, perform difficult and complexset-upsandoperatemachine on assignments, under minimal supervision with direction from engineering
  • Create, load, edit and store programsand runsoftware analysis routines on data to prepare machine control programs
  • Use metrology equipment such as interferometers and profilometers to measure results of process
  • Handle and clean optical components without downgrading the surfaces
  • Integrate,troubleshootand repaircomplexprocesses
  • Assistin developing proceduresfor new productsincluding initiatingcorrections and improvementsand training as needed
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • High School or TechnicalHighSchool diploma, A.S degree in technical discipline preferred.
  • 6-8years of related industry experiencewith spherical optics and optical testingrequired,aspherespreferred.
  • Experience with SPDT manufacturing equipment such as Moore Nanotech,Precitech, etc. Required,Mastercam andDiffsysSingle PointDiamond Turning programming
  • Strong mechanical aptitude withdemonstratedability to troubleshoot equipment/process issues and drive to resolution.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on problem-solving and ability to communicate with, influence and mentor others.
  • Advanced math skills, including trigonometry and tolerance stack-up with ability to apply to complex setups, with ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Organized,careful,anddetail-oriented.
  • Strong computerskills including MS Work and Excel
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
