Job summary

EVN Dialysis Center LLC is seeking a dedicated dialysis technician to support nursing staff in preparing dialysis equipment and caring for patients according to Center policies. This role involves monitoring treatments, ensuring safety, and documenting patient data throughout shifts.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, BLS, and either a BONENT or NANT dialysis certification, with preferred experience in patient care. Bilingual abilities are a plus, and on-site work is expected.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider Card required.
• Hemodialysis Certification through BONENT or NANT required.
• Able to read and speak English; bilingual preferred.
• One year experience in medical field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine dialysis procedures such as fistula needle insertion and treatment initiation/termination.
• Administer heparin and normal saline as required.
• Perform pre-dialysis safety tests and document properly.
• Monitor blood flow, machine pressures, and heparin dosage during treatment.
• Make rounds to patients, respond to alarms, and ensure safety parameters are set.
• Assist in positioning and turning patients using proper body mechanics.
• Take vital signs before, during, and after dialysis.
• Obtain and label blood specimens and complete requisitions.
• Complete documentation and report unusual events to supervisor.
• Maintain logs and clean equipment per policy.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service education programs.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision and/or direction of the Chief Technician, Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse or Staff RN, may perform various duties assisting nursing staff in the preparation of dialysis equipment and in the treatment and care of patients, in accordance to established policies and procedures of the Center.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate.
• American Heart Association, BLS Provider Card - Required
• Hemodialysis Certification through either the Board of Nephrolou Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) or through the National Association of Nephrology Technicians/ Technologist (NANT). - Required
• Able to read and speak English - bilingual preferred
• One year experience in the medical field either as a certified hemodialysis technician involved in patient care - preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Care Activities:

• l . Perform routine treatment procedures such as insertion of fistula needles, initiation, and termination of treatments.
• 2. Administration of Heparin and Normal Saline, as required and ordered.
• 3. Perform pre-dialysis safety tests and document properly.
• 4. Check, adjust and record blood flow rate, machine pressures, Heparin dosage/administration when taking blood pressure during treatment procedure.
• 5. Make rounds to assigned patients, anticipate needs, answer patients' calls, and respond to visual and audible alarms of equipment.
• 6. Ensure all safety parameters on the equipment are set and maintained.
• 7. Assist in the positioning, lifting, and turning of patients using proper body mechanics.

Take vital signs before, during and after dialysis procedure to assigned patients.

• 8. Monitor patients during dialysis procedure. Report any unusual changes, signs or symptoms to the nurse.
• 9. Obtain blood specimen as ordered and required. Label blood properly and complete requisitions.
• 1 0. Spin blood specimens in the Centrifuge, as required and directed.
• 1 1 . Complete appropriate documentation after each task. Report unusual events to the immediate supervisor.

Other Activities:

• 1. Perform Hard Water test, as assigned.
• 2. Perform Chloramine tests, as assigned.
• 3. Keep various logs updated, per policy.
• 4. Prepare, gather, distribute supplies prior to treatment or as per established routine procedures.
• 5. Re-stock supplies in designated areas.
• 6. Receive and store shipments of supplies. Verify amount and type of supplies received. Submit packing slips immediately to appropriate personnel.
• 7. Clean and maintain dialysis and accessory equipment per policy.
• 8. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment by reporting equipment that is out of order and other problems to the supervisor.
• 9. Establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and unit personnel, while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
• 10, Participate in and contribute to staff meetings and other unit activities.
• 11. Attend in-service education programs as directed, to learn new treatment skills, procedures, etc.
