Job Summary

A Dialysis Technician is responsible for operating dialysis machines and providing care to patients with kidney-related conditions. This role includes setting up, monitoring, and maintaining dialysis equipment, ensuring patient safety, and providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, intake/output measurements, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry.
  • Provide care to patients requiring specimen collection and skin care and nutritional needs, and basic dialysis procedures.
  • Cannulate arteriovenous fistulas or grafts and understand policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments, operate and troubleshoot dialysis machines.
  • Assist with positioning, lifting, and turning patients with proper body mechanics.
  • Assist with care for newly admitted, transferred, and discharged patients or expired patients (post mortem care).
  • Strive to maintain a patient’s maximum level of independence and encourage family participation.
  • Assist other team members in accomplishing patient care and clinic tasks.
  • Document and communicate care consistently and timely to RN, including any changes observed in condition or behavior.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, stocked, and functional environment by reporting equipment that is out of order.
  • Perform in crisis and emergency while maintaining a positive calm approach.
  • Assist in providing coverage for a Water Technician, including maintaining a safe and accessible water supply for hemodialysis and providing a reprocessed dialyzer for patient hemodialysis treatment.
Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

Pay Range

$20.18 - $27.29

Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible.
