Job summary

Acute Dialysis Care seeks a Dialysis - Registered Nurse to provide professional nephrology care in acute hospitals and contracted sub-acute facilities. You will work four 12-hour shifts weekly with some flexibility for additional hours as needed.

The role requires delivering renal replacement therapies, collaborating with hospital teams, and documenting patient assessments and treatments in medical records. RN licensure in the state is required.

Qualifications

  • RN license valid in the state of practice.
  • ASN/ADN or BSN degree; alternative diploma accepted.
  • Hemodialysis/Peritoneal Dialysis experience in acute or chronic settings preferred but not required.
  • CNN/CDN/CHN certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Attends hospital orientation and mandatory meetings.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff and reports to the primary RN.
  • Initiates and discontinues renal replacement therapy per physician orders.
  • Plans care for adult and geriatric patients per physician orders.
  • Documents dialysis activity and patient assessments.
  • Monitors emergencies and reports life-threatening events.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work across hospital settings.

Job Title: Dialysis - Registered Nurse

Job Type:Job Type: Full time. Must be able to work 4 (Four) days a week, scheduled for 12 (Twelve) Hr. shift, with flexibility to work more days or hours as needed.

Location: Acute care hospitals and sub-acute facilities that have contract with ADC Company.

POSSITION SUMMARY:

This individual provides professional nursing care to patients needing nephrology care dialysis services in the acute hospitals and sub-acute facilities that have contracted with the Company for Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis.

DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES SPECIFICATIONS:
  1. Attends hospital and Company orientation, and mandatory meetings, in - services, and continuing education if available.
  2. The RN must be cognizant that at all times the contracted facility/hospital and patient’s physician retain ultimate authority over and responsibility for each patient’s care and treatment.
  3. Interacts and communicates with hospital partners in a collaborative, respectful manner, gives pre/post treatment report through appropriate reporting process to hospital primary RN/Staff
  4. Provides initiation and discontinuation of the prescribed renal replacement therapy, including but not limited to formulating a plan per physician orders, verifying safety measures are in place and complied with, administering medications or other appropriate treatments related to dialysis, and documenting all activity appropriately on the hospital and or Company’s approved forms and documentation tool.
  5. Plans and provides patient care for the adult and geriatric patients in the hospital in accordance with the physician orders, hospital’s policy and procedures as well as the Company’s policy and procedures.
  6. Provides quality direct patient care and renal replacement therapies independently, in a professional, considerate and respectful manner.
  7. Documents, evaluates and implements dialysis orders.
  8. Documents patient’s physical assessment, vital signs, treatment reviews and observation in patient medical records and brings issues to the attention of physician and primary nurse
  9. Analyzes patient assessment, dialysis orders, laboratory results and, discusses issues with the nephrologist
  10. Communicates emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related incidents to supervisor, hospital staff, and patient’s physician.
  11. Demonstrates the ability to learn and perform modalities (hemodialysis, PD.CRRT, Apheresis)
  12. Supervises and directs patient care of other teammates in treatment area that may or may not be licensed.
  13. Demonstrates the ability to transfer skill set and work on other Hospital settings when required. In other words, flexible.
  14. Verifies accurate charges and documentation are submitted in a timely manner.
EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE:
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license int the state to practice.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (A.D.N.) from the accredited school of nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N), three-year diploma from the accredited diploma program may be substituted for nursing degree.
  • Hemodialysis and or Peritoneal Dialysis nursing experience in an acute or chronic setting with a proof of certification desired but not required.
  • Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN), Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) and/or Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN), preferred but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 1 year RN experience; medical/surgical (Med/Surg), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), and/or emergency room (ER1
  • At least 6 months experience in an acute dialysis hospital or facility preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ESSENTIAL:
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime if required due to the nature of the acute treatment you are providing, with a little or no notice.
  • Flexibility to travel to multiple hospitals within a given area.
  • Experience assessing, trouble shooting and making sound recommendations in the stressful situations.
  • Physical Requirement: nurse often have to push/pull large hemodialysis machines around the hospital unassisted.
