Job summary

UPMC Horizon - Shenango Valley is seeking a Diagnostic Technologist to join the Imaging Team. This regular, full-time role will work varying shifts and days, including rotating weekend and holiday responsibility.

Start strong: Earn a $10,000 sign-on bonus for a 2-year commitment. A Monthly Loan Repayment program offers up to $9,000 over three years for eligible graduates. Applicants will be placed into the appropriate title and salary based on experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Identifies patients using two identifiers and follows universal protocol for imaging procedures.
• Reviews patient history and orders, documenting data in the electronic record as required.
• Ensures exams are properly coded, archived in ISITE, and charges entered.
• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures per established protocols with minimal supervision.
• Operates imaging equipment to acquire and document image data according to protocol.
• Maintains patient and coworker interactions with care, respect, and effective communication.
• Adjusts protocols as needed with independent judgment for diagnostic imaging.
• Explains procedures clearly to patients to alleviate fears and gain cooperation.

Start strong: Earn a $10,000 sign-on bonus for a 2-year work commitment when you join our team for eligible candidates.

UPMC's brand new Monthly Loan Repayment program, exclusively for December 2023 and later eligible graduates, offering $9000 in loan repayment paid over three years for eligible regular Full-Time roles. (Eligible Flex Full-Time roles to receive prorated amount of $6300.)

Applicants will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education.

Responsibilities:

• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required.
• Administers PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy
• Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols/procedures without requiring constant supervision.
• Utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, manipulation and documentation of image data and completes procedures according to protocol.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement to adjust protocols and shows initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic radiography purposes.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation.
