Summary

This role supports the radiologist's function by performing various diagnostic imaging examinations crucial for detecting illnesses, injuries, and other conditions. It involves utilizing different imaging equipment to provide data and images for diagnosis and treatment, adhering to radiation safety protocols, and functioning as part of the clinical care team. Specializations include X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans.

Job Duties

• Maintain and sterilize diagnostic imaging equipment and testing rooms.
• Keep detailed records of procedures, diagnoses, and other relevant medical notes.
• Perform selected clinical procedures after demonstrating competency, including rooming patients and recording vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images and prepare them for radiologist interpretation.
• Communicate with radiologists and physicians to determine if additional images are needed.
• Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure their comfort.
• Operate imaging equipment to capture comprehensive images from all necessary angles.
• Ensure radiation protection standards are met using collimation, lead shielding, and proper distancing, with proper documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA-accredited Radiology Technician program with a Technical School Diploma.
• At least 2 years of diagnostic radiology experience.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a multi-disciplined radiology department.
• Ability to handle confidential medical information ethically and effectively.
• Understanding of anatomy and physiology, especially regarding radiation-sensitive organs and tissues.
• Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and standards.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
• Registered Technologist in Radiology with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists upon hire.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and carry 7 lbs., with frequent sitting (>67%), keyboard use, fine motor activities, and wrist movements.
