Qualifications

  • Technical School Diploma; Radiography program graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of Radiologic program.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology (PA) license or eligibility.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Knowledge of radiology technology and terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Produces diagnostic quality images and prepares them for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Maintains radiation safety standards and proper protection practices.
  • Uses correct exposure factors, collimation, and positioning with documentation.
  • Ensures exam orders, patient information, and CPT codes are complete.
  • Coordinates daily work within the imaging team and with departments.
  • Ensures images transfer to PACS before study completion.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the work area.
  • Participates in training new staff, students, and others.

Summary

Provides diagnostic quality radiologic imaging under the direction of a Physician while maintaining proper radiation protection standards . Follows the guidelines for radiation safety while imaging gently. Delivers a high level of patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction.

Job Duties
  • Produces images of diagnostic quality, processes, and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Uses appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and proper distance with documentation.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her own safety and the safety of others.
  • Ensures appropriate exam is ordered for number of images provided and attached to the correct patient folder.
  • Confirms levels of supplies and equipment to meet requirements for patient care and/or specific departments.
  • Documents LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, number of images, appropriate history and all other required documentation.
  • Ensures coordination of daily work duties within the team and coordinates timing of exams.
  • Ensures images have crossed into PACS before study is complete.
  • Confirms physician orders are complete and includes signature, ordered study, reason for test (diagnosis/CPT codes) and obtains missing information prior to treatment.
  • Reports equipment malfunction and the need for adjustment and/or repairs.
  • Assists in the education and training of new employees, students, and other ancillary personnel.
  • Assumes responsibility for cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area and maintains orderliness.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical School Diploma
  • Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent
  • Less than 1 year
  • Completion of Radiologic program
  • Ability to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, family, and physicians.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Understanding of how to effectively and safely use radiation producing equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical technology and terminology.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree

Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
