PNW Automotive seeks a strong diagnostic technician in Astoria, OR. You will tackle tough electrical and drivability challenges, test systematically, and document findings for service advisors and customers.
A background with European makes is valued, along with the ability to explain complex faults in plain language. Competitive pay based on experience, paid training, and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) with match, PTO and holidays.
Good diagnosticians are rare, and most shops don't know what to do with one. They hand you the nightmare car, give you an hour, and wonder why it isn't fixed.
We do it differently, and we're looking for one strong diagnostic technician to join us.
PNW Automotive is a family-owned, European-focused shop in Astoria. We work on BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo, Land Rover, and Jaguar every day, along with Subaru and a small mix of Asian and Domestic vehicles.
Our owner and master technician is a nationally recognized trainer. PNW Automotive is also the only shop in Oregon that attends the annual Bimrs EuroTrain event. That matters for you, because when you work here you take part in high-level classes including BMW sponsored classes, communications, programming and diagnostic classes on cutting-edge technology. Most techs pay for that kind of training out of pocket, if they can get it at all.
You're the tech who actually enjoys the hard ones. You'd rather spend the time testing and prove the fault than guess and hope. Electrical and drivability problems are where you do your best work, and you can explain what you found so the service advisor and the customer understand it.
We do need to see that background on paper. This role requires verifiable experience in a diagnostic position, so please include work history and references that can speak to it. You'll also need:
European experience, programming experience, and ASE or manufacturer certifications are all a plus.
We're not a run-of-the-mill flat-rate shop. Our technicians are trusted professionals, not parts changers, and we give them the time and tools to fix vehicles correctly the first time.
Maybe your current shop is great but the pay isn't cutting it. Maybe the pay is fine but you've stopped learning. Either way, we'd love to talk with you.
