Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic and diagnostic studies under a Radiologist’s direction. Responsibilities include patient care, safety, equipment operation, and education for staff and students.

Qualified candidates will have graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program and ARRT registration. This is an onsite, full-time role with day shifts at Nash Hospitals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school or program of Radiologic Technology.
• Current Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Students within ARRT-recognized programs may apply and must pass the registry within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Produces radiographs including routine, portable and surgical studies.
• Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection.
• Provides patient support and information.
• Coordinates with physicians and nursing staff.
• Operates and maintains radiologic equipment and film processors.
• Documents to patient records.
• Instructs staff and students in basic radiologic techniques.
• Participates in quality control/quality assurance activities.
• Performs related clerical and support tasks.

Summary:
The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist produces radiographic and diagnostic studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist. Takes responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. Participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. Operate radiology and fluoroscopic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x‑rays films as directed by physicians.

Responsibilities

• Produces routine and specialized, portable and surgical radiographs and specialized studies to include, but not limited to: bone survey, peg placement and scoliosis series.
• Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
• Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients.
• Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
• Operates and maintains radiographic equipment, film processors, computers and other departmental equipment.
• Documents to the patient record.
• As assigned, provides instruction in the basic theory, technical skills, and application of radiologic procedures to other employees, new employees and students.
• Participates in quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Performs clerical, darkroom, film processing, patient transportation and other miscellaneous functions in support of operations.
