Radiologist - Breast Imaging & General Diagnostic Radiology
Position: Diagnostic Radiologist / Breast Imaging Radiologist
Employment: Full-Time or Part-Time
Practice Setting: Outpatient Imaging Center
Work Arrangement: Primarily Remote/Teleradiology with approximately 1-2 flexible on-site days per month
Compensation: $400,000-$600,000, depending on availability, on-site coverage, and ability to perform procedures
Primary Responsibilities
- Screening and diagnostic mammography
- 2D and 3D digital breast tomosynthesis
- Breast ultrasound
- MRI
- CT / CAT scans
- X-ray / general radiography
- DEXA / bone density
- Other diagnostic studies within the physician's qualifications and privileges
The Radiologist Will
- Interpret screening and diagnostic mammograms.
- Review abnormal breast imaging and recommend appropriate follow-up.
- Correlate mammography and ultrasound findings.
- Assign appropriate BI-RADS assessments and recommendations.
- Review prior studies and compare with current examinations.
- Provide timely communication of significant findings.
- Support diagnostic breast imaging and appropriate referral for biopsy when indicated.
- Collaborate with technologists and referring providers.
- Maintain compliance with applicable MQSA/FDA requirements.
- Provide accurate and timely final reports for all assigned studies.
On-Site Responsibilities
Approximately 1-2 on-site days per month will be expected, although the schedule is flexible.
On-site Responsibilities May Include
- Diagnostic mammography
- Real-time review of diagnostic mammography
- Additional mammographic views when necessary
- Targeted breast ultrasound review
- Breast imaging consultations
- Procedures, depending on the physician's qualifications and willingness
- Collaboration with technologists and referring providers
Candidates who are available for additional on-site work and/or procedures may have compensation toward the higher end of the stated range.
Remote / Teleradiology Responsibilities
- The majority of the work can be performed remotely through the organization's PACS system.
- The physician will interpret studies and provide final reports within the expected turnaround time of 24 hours.
- There is no on-call requirement.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree.
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
- Active California medical license required.
- Must meet applicable requirements for mammography/MQSA interpretation.
- Qualified and credentialed to interpret the required imaging modalities.
- Ability to read X-ray, MRI, mammography, CT, ultrasound, and DEXA.
- Comfortable working in a remote/teleradiology environment.
- Ability to obtain appropriate facility privileges and credentialing.
Breast imaging fellowship is not required. There is no specific minimum number of years of breast imaging experience required, provided the physician is qualified and able to perform the required work.
