Qualifications

Responsibilities

Transfer patients from stretcher or wheelchair to imaging table.
Prepare room, equipment and material needed for patient procedures.
Prepare oral and injectable contrast and other chemical mixtures as necessary.
Follow prescribed protocols required to perform procedures and observe patients during procedures.
Administer contrast material under the direction of the radiologist according to protocols.
Maximize patient throughput through coordination with escorts, ward secretaries, and nursing personnel.
Maintain clean work area and supplies; provide training to student radiographers and residents.
Practice hospital safety, radiation safety, infection control and universal precautions.
Responsible for the quality assurance of the image prior to transmission to PACS.
Assist house staff in use of Carestream PACS and transfer images to network.
Provide education to patients and families on imaging procedures.
Clerical and file room duties related to patient care.

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist-CT position is located in the Radiology department at the West Haven, CT location. This position is a Part-time position at 12 hours per week/24 hours per pay period.

Administer contrast material, under the direction of the radiologist, according to protocols. Maximize patient throughput by contacts with escort, ward secretaries, nursing personnel, etc.

Maintain a clean work area and adequate level of supplies within their assigned rooms at all times Provide training to student radiographers and residents from affiliated programs and facilitates the attainment of established program objectives Practice hospital safety, radiation safety, infection control and universal precautions at all times in accordance with age and/or gender specific departmental procedures Responsible for the quality assurance of the image (positioning/label/technique/network information) prior to transmission to the PAC's network.

Assist the house staff in use of Care-stream PACS system and can also transfer images to the network and/or transmission to offsite locations. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the work area, exam room, and imaging equipment to standards set by the manufacturer. Provide education to patients and their families on Imaging procedures Clerical and file room duties related to patient care Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Every other Saturday & Sunday Hours: 8pm-8am.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
