Job summary

VA Portland Health Care System is seeking four full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists specialized in Computed Tomography (CT) to support the Diagnostic Imaging Service in Portland, OR (Vancouver, WA campus as assigned).

Responsibilities include performing head-to-toe CT with 3D reconstructions, CTA, and interventional CT procedures, with coverage of fluoroscopy, portables, and the OR as needed. Requires ARRT CT certification and 2+ years CT experience.

Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) with CT (post-primary) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of CT experience with advanced applications (CTA, interventional CT).
  • Venipuncture and power injection of contrast.
  • Fluoroscopy, portables and general diagnostic radiography competence.
  • State radiologic technologist license/certification where required (Oregon and/or Washington).
  • Current BLS.
  • NPI number eligibility or possession.

Responsibilities

  • Perform head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremity CT with 3D reconstructions and multi-planar reformats.
  • Perform CTA of Circle of Willis, carotids, abdominal aorta and run-offs; CT myelography; cardiac CT if trained.
  • Assist with interventional CT: biopsies, RF ablations, drainages using sterile technique.
  • Start IVs and administer/prepare contrast; monitor for reactions.
  • Apply CT dose optimization and radiation safety for patients and staff.
  • Screen orders in CPRS, prioritize stat/inpatient; register and edit exams in RIS/PACS.
  • Keep repeat/reject rates within department targets; perform equipment checks.
  • Cross-cover fluoroscopic and general diagnostic exams, portable radiography/fluoroscopy, angio and OR.

Job description

Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist – Computed Tomography (CT)

VA Portland Health Care System — Portland, OR (Vancouver, WA campus as assigned) | Full Time (4 openings) | 40 hrs/week; 8-, 9- or 10-hr shifts, rotating weekends/holidays

Position Overview

Four full-time CT technologist positions supporting the Diagnostic Imaging Service at the VA Portland Health Care System. You will run day-to-day CT operations, including CT angiography and interventional CT, and cross-cover fluoroscopy, portables and the OR as assigned.

Contract term: base year starting January 4, 2027, with four one-year option periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremity CT, with 3D reconstructions and multi-planar reformats
  • Perform CTA of the Circle of Willis, carotids, abdominal aorta and run-offs; CT myelography; cardiac CT if cardiac-trained
  • Assist with interventional CT: biopsies, RF ablations, abscess drainages and cyst aspirations, using sterile technique
  • Start IVs and administer/prepare contrast under radiologist direction; monitor for and respond to contrast reactions
  • Apply CT dose optimization and radiation safety for patients, staff and self
  • Screen orders in CPRS, prioritize stat, pre-op, inpatient and routine exams; register and edit exams in RIS/PACS
  • Keep repeat/reject rates within department targets; perform minor equipment checks and report malfunctions
  • Cross-cover fluoroscopic and general diagnostic exams, portable radiography/fluoroscopy, angio and OR as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
  • ARRT (R) with CT (post-primary) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of CT experience including advanced applications (CTA, interventional CT)
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and power injection of contrast
  • Competence in fluoroscopy, portables and general diagnostic radiography
  • State radiologic technologist license/certification where required (Oregon and/or Washington for the Vancouver campus)
  • Current BLS
  • NPI number (or willingness to obtain before submission)
  • Able to lift/transfer patients and handle equipment up to 50–100 lbs; prolonged standing
  • Must pass a VA background investigation, TB/immunization screening and VA credentialing
Compensation

$77–$87/hour, depending on experience and certifications

Overtime is paid in addition under the contract terms. Local position — no per diem or travel allowance.
