Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center seeks a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform and coordinate diagnostic radiology exams, with and without contrast, ensuring high-quality imaging for patient care.

Responsibilities include patient instruction, safety, equipment operation, and collaboration with radiologists. Schedule and duties align with standard radiology service operations in a federal healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Certification in general radiologic technology by ARRT (R) required.
• Completion of a full-time radiologic technology program (≥24 months) evidenced by certificate or associate degree.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine radiographic procedures with/without contrast.
• Explain exams to patients and discuss potential risks.
• Prepare contrast materials under radiologist direction.
• Identify patient and ensure correct patient ID on images.
• Operate portable X-ray equipment and assist radiologists and surgeons.
• Follow ALARA and radiation safety standards to minimize exposure.
• Maintain inventory and report equipment malfunctions.
