Job summary

Marshfield Clinic Health System is seeking a skilled ultrasound technologist responsible for performing various ultrasound examinations. The ideal candidate will be a graduate from an accredited program, exhibit high ethical standards, and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.

Registered in at least one sonography area, the candidate will also assist with accreditation maintenance and supervise students. Competitive health and retirement benefits are offered for full-time employees.

Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. Thoroughly understands the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilizes new technologies. Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations. Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff.

Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self‑motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the sonography field. Displays empathy, compassion, and integrity. Possesses an understanding of cross‑sectional anatomy. Conducts self professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress.

Assists when necessary with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes. Understands age‑related protocols for various testing. Coordinates work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable. Supervises and trains students and medical sonographers as needed. Reports and calls in‑service requests on equipment when needed. Additionally, based on the facility some Sanford markets/facility sites may expand job responsibilities to include echocardiography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations.
  • Maintain medical ethics and professional conduct.
  • Assist with accreditation processes and equipment maintenance.
  • Coordinate with physicians and healthcare team during procedures.
  • Supervise and train students and sonographers.
  • Handle equipment service requests.
  • Possibly perform echocardiography duties if required.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year of equivalent work experience.
  • Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: RDMS, RVT, ARRT, or registry eligible.
  • Registration preferred within two years after hiring.
  • If working in North Dakota, licensure through the NDMIRT Board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re‑certification as necessary.
  • For employees providing outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
