Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Diagnostic Imaging Technical Specialist (CT and Xray) to join our radiology team on a PRN (as needed) basis. The role spans CT and X-ray imaging with patient care at the core in a dynamic hospital setting.

The position requires ARRT registration, CT cross-training, and BLS within 3 months of hire, plus a minimum of one year of hospital imaging experience. You will rotate across modalities to meet departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school/program of radiography.
• ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist upon start.
• Must obtain advanced certification in applicable modality within one year of training.
• American Heart Association BLS within 3 months of hire.
• Minimum of one year of imaging experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment.
• Must be able to perform in two or more modalities with at least even amount of time spent rotating in each annually based on needs. CT Cross Training.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical imaging services in CT and X-ray modalities according to imaging practice standards, serving as a resource to imaging staff and students.
• Administers patient care following hospital and department policies to ensure patient safety.
• Gathers clinical history and informed consent to assist physicians in optimizing examinations.
• Performs routine quality control testing and maintenance on imaging equipment to ensure consistent image quality.
• Participates in policy/procedure development and implementation.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Diagnostic Imaging Technical Specialist Job Responsibilities

• The Diagnostic Imaging Technical Specialist provides clinical services in multiple modalities, according to Imaging practice standards, with equal time spent in each modality, based on OU needs, while acting as a resource to Imaging Students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions.
• Administers sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures while ensuring the safety of patients.
• Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent to assist physicians in optimizing the performance and interpretation of examinations.
• Performs and documents routine quality control testing of equipment, as well as performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of imagers/processors to maintain consistent quality images, as evidenced by the physician and exam results.
• Assists in the development, review, and implementation of policies/procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of accredited school/program of radiography

Certification:
