Job summary

International Motors USA in Illinois is seeking a Diagnostic Consultant to drive strategy, develop diagnostics, and define data quality for our remote and autonomous diagnostics initiatives.

You will translate engineering information into clear data points for dealers and technicians, support new program launches, and collaborate with Engineering to specify test requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in automotive or heavy‑duty engineering with relevant experience.
• Master's degree in automotive or heavy‑duty engineering with 1+ year experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive or heavy‑duty industry.

Responsibilities

• Develops diagnostic processes and procedures for specific products and acts as a diagnostic subject matter expert in support of other groups within the company.
• Routinely conducts problem‑solving and analysis on product related issues for improved product quality and warranty expense reduction.
• Participates in the Engineering Design Review process and influences design decisions for improved diagnostics and serviceability in evolving product designs.
• Reviews, and influences, current product changes for improved diagnostics.
• Creates requirements for the development of diagnostic tools (electrical, electronic and mechanical) and validates changes to diagnostic tools and compatibility with product changes.
• Provides technical support to field test fleet and support personnel who are diagnosing complex product electronic and mechanical systems.
• Responds to situations where first‑line product support requires a deeper investigation to isolate or fix problems in equipment or software.
• Performs technical work requiring a considerable amount of creativity, perception and initiative.

Position Overview

We are seeking a

We are seeking a Diagnostic Consultant who will be responsible for strategy, development and creation of diagnostics including our new Guide Live system and ongoing innovations as well as data definition and quality. Additionally, the Diagnostic Consultant will manage the ranking logic within the Health Report fault code ranker. Will support new program launches as well as current products and are currently an important key to achieving our mission in the area of remote and autonomous diagnostics. Finally, will assist in defining Electronic Service Tool test requirements in collaboration with Engineering.

Diagnostic Consultants translate engineering information, repair strategies and other information sources into coherent and cohesive data points and consistent language and direction for our dealer and customer technicians. These activities directly impact a technician's ability to diagnose and repair our vehicles correctly and efficiently, thus impacting both customers' uptime and Navistar's warranty expense. They support new program launches as well as current products and are currently an important key to achieving our mission in the area of remote and autonomous diagnostics.

All of these activities are key building blocks to our company's vision of Remote and Autonomous Diagnostics for a vehicle that can diagnose itself.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in the automotive or Heavy Duty industry

OR

• Master's degree and at least 1 year of experience in the automotive or Heavy Duty industry

OR

• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive or Heavy Duty industry
