Job summary

Solis Mammography is seeking a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer in Gainesville, FL. The role involves independently operating ultrasound equipment, obtaining precise breast measurements, and communicating findings with radiologists and patients.

Qualified candidates will be ARDMS certified, have a CAAHEP-accredited education, and be proficient with RIS/PACS. Strong patient education and attention to detail are essential for success in this on-site, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program accredited by the CAAHEP.
• Active ARDMS certification and CME compliance.
• Strong ability to communicate procedures to patients and explain the importance of mammography.

Responsibilities

• Operate sonography equipment to produce high quality breast images and measurements.
• Communicate with radiologists and patients to ensure accurate data and comfort.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort during examinations.
• Document procedures and data clearly in the tracking/chart system.
• Assist radiologists during ultrasound-guided procedures when needed.

Work Hours:(Full-Time) Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

The Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart.Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.

Here is what you will need:Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.

• Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
• Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health.
• Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology. Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
• Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.

A Day in the Life of a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer:

• Provide services and support for the following areas:
  • Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
  • Produces high quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
  • Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
  • Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
  • Appropriate monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insure patient emotional and physical well-being
  • Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
  • Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions
  • Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patientsand to referring physicians’ offices as required.
  • Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and insures proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
  • Other duties as assigned
