Job summary

The Indian Health Service in the Gallup Service Unit provides specialty podiatric services, including surgery for patients with diabetes, and offers consultative podiatry within the Gallup Service Unit.

The role emphasizes comprehensive lower-extremity assessment, preventive care, and participation in development of foot care programs and clinics for diverse patient populations in New Mexico.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an APMA-accredited school.
• Current full, unrestricted podiatric license in the United States.
• One or more full years of podiatry experience in office, clinic, or hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assess the lower extremity from distal to the knee and treat diabetic patients to reduce amputation risk.
• Perform major and minor podiatric surgeries and manage postoperative care.
• Assess footwear needs and gait abnormalities for diabetics and non-diabetics.
• Develop and implement foot care programs and participate in clinic scheduling and program evaluation.
