Job summary

Providence seeks a Diabetes Education Specialist to deliver individualized and group education in DSME, MNT, and diabetes prevention programs. You will support Providence Community Wellness initiatives by providing evidence-based education across diverse populations.

Required are certifications (RD/Nutritionist, CDR RD, CDCES) and at least 6 months of diabetes education experience. This role emphasizes compassionate care, collaboration with care teams, and ongoing program improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
  • Washington Dietitian Certification upon hire or Washington Nutritionist Certification.
  • National CDR Registered Dietitian upon hire.
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) upon hire or preparing for the exam.
  • 6 months of experience providing diabetes education or 15 contact hours in diabetes subjects within past year.

Responsibilities

Job description

Description

Provides individualized and group education, counseling, and support in Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME), Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), diabetes prevention programs, and other health and wellness initiatives. Supports Providence Community Wellness programs through the delivery of evidence-based education and interventions designed to improve health outcomes and promote healthy lifestyle behaviors across diverse populations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
  • Washington Dietitian Certification upon hire -OR- Washington Nutritionist Certification
  • National CDR Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) upon hire or preparing for the NCBDE qualifying examination
  • 6 months of experience providing diabetes education and/or 15 contact hours within past year in diabetes and diabetes clinical and educational subjects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Credentialed as a diabetes education specialist or diabetes clinical management specialist
  • CDE certified
  • 3 years of experience as a healthcare professional
