Job summary

DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, part of Tenet Healthcare, seeks an experienced nurse to plan and render professional care in outpatient clinic settings, with emphasis on diabetic education.

You will assist nursing staff, assess diabetic patients, explain insulin and meal plans, and coordinate referrals while maintaining CPR proficiency and contributing to staff education and patient care improvements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current MI nursing license.
• Experience in diabetes education or education certification preferred.
• Alternative: Dietetics degree with ADA registration and diabetic teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and render professional care in outpatient clinic settings.
• Assist nursing staff with patient care, tests and procedures.
• Assess diabetic patients and monitor progress and response to treatment.
• Provide Diabetic Education to individuals and groups.
• Explain insulin administration and meal plans to patients.
• Refer to community services, medical suppliers, or physicians as needed.
• Communicate treatment plans with patients and physicians.
• Participate in nursing committees and quality improvement projects.
• Maintain CPR proficiency and respond in emergencies.
• Contribute to ongoing staff education and workshops.
