Job description

The DGR Regional Manager is responsible for the overall performance, leadership, and operational effectiveness of all Donated Goods Retail functions within an assigned region. This includes retail stores, outlet operations, e-commerce, salvage/recycling, attended donation centers (ADCs), and transportation/logistics.This role is accountable for regional financial performance, operational execution, safety compliance, and team development across all assigned functions. The Regional Manager ensures that all aspects of the donated goods lifecycle, from donation acquisition to final sale or salvage operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with Goodwill’s mission.The Regional Manager may be assigned any combination of retail, outlet, e-commerce, and logistics operations depending on organizational needs.At Goodwill, we are Investing in People, Strengthening Communities and this role supports the mission of Improving People’s Lives Through the Power of Work by ensuring donated goods are handled safely, efficiently, and responsibly to maximize mission impact and revenue generation.REPORTS TO:Director of RetailESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Operations Leadership (Multi-Unit)Direct and oversee all assigned operations including: retail stores, outlet operations, e-commerce, salvage/recycling operations, ADCs and transportation and logisticsEnsure all locations operate efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with company standardsConduct regular site visits, audits, and performance reviewsProvide hands-on leadership and problem-solving support across locationsFinancial Performance & Business ManagementAchieve regional financial targets including revenue growth, expense control, and margin improvementAnalyze monthly P&L statements and operational reportsIdentify trends and implement corrective actionsDevelop and manage annual budgets for assigned areasDrive productivity and efficiency across all operationsHold assigned managers accountable for understanding and managing the financial and operational performance of their locationsDonated Goods Flow & Supply ChainEnsure efficient movement of goods from donation to transportation to processing to retail/outlet/e-commerce/salvageOversee: truck routing and scheduling, donation volume growth strategies (ADCs, pickups, partnerships), and inventory flow and product distribution across locationsMinimize waste and maximize value recovery (retail, ecommerce, salvage)Ensure proper handling and protection of donated goodsMerchandising & Sales ExecutionDrives sales through effective: merchandising standards, product flow and availability, and pricing executionSupport managers in achieving sales targets through data-driven decisionsEnsure consistency in store presentations and customer experienceAlign outlet and salvage strategies to maximize total revenueTeam Leadership & DevelopmentDirectly supervise store, outlet, e-commerce, salvage/logistics leadership as assignedRecruit, select, onboard, coach, develop, and retain effective management staffConduct performance evaluations and create development plansBuild a culture of accountability, ownership, and mission alignmentEnsure managers are effectively training and developing their teamsIdentify leadership potential, develop internal talent, and support succession planning for key retail leadership positionsCustomer & Donor ExperienceEnsure a high-quality experience across retail customers, donors and community partnersResolve escalated customer and donor concernsMaintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments at all locationsSupport donation growth through strong donor engagementSafety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with: OSHA, DOT, and all applicable regulations and company safety policies and proceduresOversee: monthly safety inspections, equipment use and training, and vehicle safety and maintenancePromote a strong safety culture across all operationsEnsure incidents are properly reported and addressedOperational Compliance & ControlsEnsure adherence to: HR policies and procedures, cash handling and financial controls, and loss prevention and asset protection standardsConduct audits and ensure corrective actions are implementedSafeguard company assets, including donated goodsEnsure consistent enforcement of company policies and procedures across all locations; address violations promptly through coaching, documentation, and disciplinary action in partnership with HRStrategic Planning & GrowthDevelop short and long term strategies for: sales growth, donation growth, and operational efficiencyIdentify opportunities for: new donation sites, expanded partnerships, and process improvementsSupport innovation aligned with organizational goalsCommunication & CoordinationConduct regular meetings with management teamsPartner with HR, Finance, and Mission ServicesEnsure alignment between retail operations and organizational prioritiesOtherAttends conferences and seminars; Experience with donated goods retail, high-volume retail, logistics, distribution, or other complex multi-site operations is preferred.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license required.
