Job summary

Vantor is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to support private cloud infrastructure, spanning on-prem and cloud environments. You will implement Infrastructure as Code, automate pipelines, and collaborate with a cross-functional team of analysts, engineers, and developers.

The role requires active U.S. Government security clearance and readiness to work in a SCIF in Herndon, VA, with a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and scalable operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required.
  • 8+ years of total professional experience in technical support/related field.
  • Strong Linux experience and DevSecOps background.
  • Experience with open-source deployments and custom applications.
  • Ability to work with a geographically distributed team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Willingness to work in a SCIF environment in Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain private cloud using OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Create and maintain IaC scripts (Ansible/Chef or similar).
  • Build and maintain automated DevSecOps pipelines (ArgoCD, GitLab, SonarQube, Cucumber, JMeter, Cypress).
  • Monitor and resolve issues from OS to deployed apps.
  • Manage ATO accreditation efforts through tuning, patching, or documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary SAFe Agile teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Leverage OpenShift and Kubernetes to configure, monitor, and maintain this private cloud environment
  • Create and maintain automated, repeatable environment creation and configuration (Infrastructure as Code) scripts using ansible, chef, or similar tools
  • Create and maintain automated DevSecOps pipelines using leading open-source offerings, including ArgoCD, GitLab, SonarQube, Cucumber, JMeter, and Cypress.io
  • Monitor, Predict, Update, and Resolve issues at all levels, from bare-metal operating systems to deployed applications
  • Oversee and manage compliance to ATO accreditation needs with tuning, patching or documentation.
  • Communicate with multidisciplinary SAFe Agile teams and articulate technical concepts and ideas effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI with CI poly (or willingness to obtain a CI poly).
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of total professional experience in a technical support role (additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree).
  • Demonstrated technical experience with DevSecOps and strong Linux experience.
  • Open source and custom application deployments and maintenance experience.
  • Capable of working effectively with a geographically distributed ops & development team
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team in written and oral forums
  • Willingness to work 90% or as needed in a SCIF environment in Herndon, VA.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with:
    • Hardware and software sustainment with IC and DoD networks.
    • Distributed processing methods and tools, such as REST APIs, microservices, IaaS/PaaS services.
    • Developing and deploying web services
    • Working with open-source resources in a government computing environment
    • Maintaining backend GIS technologies
    • ICD 503
    • Big data technologies such as ElasticSearch, Accumulo, Spark, Hive, or Hadoop
  • Familiarity with:
    • Hybrid cloud/on-prem architecture, RedHat, AWS, C2S, and OpenShift.
    • Concepts such as Data visualization; Data management, Data integration, User Interfaces, Databases
  • CompTIA Security+ or comparable certification for privileged user access.
  • Experience in/or supporting military/intelligence or knowledge of some TCPED systems is a plus!

Starting pay for this role will fall within the listed range and will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, location, and market conditions. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the role should not expect to receive compensation at the top of the range. The listed range reflects the expected pay for this position, and final offers will be determined based on each candidate’s experience, expertise, and alignment with the role.

  • The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $140,000.00 - $187,000.00 - $205,700.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
