Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join the AI Strike team. You will harden security, automate builds and deployments using Terraform, Helm, and related tools, and enable scalable CI/CD for production AI applications.

You will collaborate with AI, application, and data science teams to deliver secure, cloud-enabled solutions and mentor junior engineers while driving continuous DevSecOps improvements across projects.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
  • Master's degree with 3 years of experience OR Bachelor's with 5 years of experience OR no degree with 9 years of experience.
  • 3 Years of Experience with one or more clouds (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • 3 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket.
  • 3 Years of Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages.
  • 3 Years of application DevSecOps Experience with development experience in an Agile environment.
  • 3 Years of Experience implementing containerized solutions with Kubernetes and OpenShift/Docker/Podman.
  • 3 Years of Experience implementing infrastructure as code and orchestration.
  • 3 Years of Experience building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, TravisCI.
  • 3 Years of Experience integrating deployments with DevSecOps tooling and orchestration.
  • Multiple cloud/cybersecurity/microsoft certifications (5+ preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Establish automation and tooling for development and release processes.
  • Automate and improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
  • Create secure, production-ready deployment configurations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure compliance with DevSecOps practices.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote continuous improvement.
  • Document current environments and options for modernization.
  • Support enterprise cloud applications and large-scale deployments.

Overview

The AI Strike team is creating mission critical AI Applications. As a DevSecOps Engineer you will work with AI Engineers, Application Engineers, and Data Scientist to make the AI Applications we are creating Production ready. This includes application security hardening, creating build and deployment automation using Terraform, Helm Charts, and other build and deployment automation tools. We are creating high impact applications that are helping drive the organization and mission.

Contributions

As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice delivering features to support cloud and application development. We are looking for candidates with 3-5 years experience with cloud platform services and DevSecOps practices such as build/release management, CI/CD practices, and process automation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Current USDA Public Trust
  • Establish development tools and infrastructure for automation
  • Understand the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
  • Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes
  • Test and examine code written by others and analyze results
  • Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop software updates and 'fixes'
  • Work with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • Support enterprise Cloud applications or infrastructure through infrastructure as code including any activities around automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, and monitoring and testing, such as CI/CD
  • Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
  • Leverage virtualization and containerization to optimize and modernize software systems
  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members
  • Work with teams to bring continuous improvement to DevSecOps processes and tools.
  • Engineer and implement solutions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided
  • Present regular status updates and provide cross training to other DevOps team members.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance

  • 3 Years of Experience with one or more clouds (i.e. AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • 3 Years of Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages
  • 3 Years of application DevSecOps Experience with development experience in an Agile environment
  • 3 Years of Experience implementing containerized solutions utilizing Kubernetes and enterprise container platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, or Podman
  • 3 Years of Experience implementing infrastructure as code and orchestration
  • 3 Years of Experience building CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, TravisCI
  • 3 Years of Experience integrating deployments with industry standard DevSecOps tooling and orchestration
  • Experience integrating test automation including performance, security, and functional tests into CI/CD Pipelines
  • Multiple industry certifications related to cloud, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, or Microsoft technologies (five (5) or more preferred).

Preferred:

  • Experience implementing automated testing frameworks including Selenium
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
  • Experience with scripting in Concourse, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby
  • Experience with automation tools, including Pivotal, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $175,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
