Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer to join a fast-paced team modernizing a data discovery platform. You will contribute to a scalable microservices stack, containerized deployments, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will deploy and maintain production pipelines with Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka, while enhancing CI/CD and infrastructure automation. A Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience or 6+ with a Master's.
• Strong Linux proficiency.
• Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.

Responsibilities

The role involves contributing to scalable, containerized microservices architecture and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big-data pipeline built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.
• Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to accelerate development and improve reliability.
• Design and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
• Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features and evolving requirements.
• Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities.
• Contribute technical input to engineering documentation, diagrams, and models.
• Participate in Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, bug triage, and related team activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of relevant experience; 6+ years with a Master's.
• Strong Linux proficiency.
• Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating systems at scale.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Development experience (Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java, etc.).
• Experience supporting enterprise or production systems.
• Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems (AMQP, JMS).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Familiarity with GPU-based Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with SALT for deployment automation.
