Job summary

Devopsroles in Iowa, United States seeks a DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer to maintain, optimize, and support platforms underpinning our software development ecosystem.

You will own developer tooling (self-hosted GitLab, private package repositories, CI/CD pipelines) and collaborate with IT on servers, storage, networking, and datacenter infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux in modern server environments.
• Hands-on with self-hosted GitLab or equivalent enterprise platform.
• Containerization with Docker and containerizing legacy apps.
• Scripting/automation (Bash, Python) and CI/CD workflows.
• Deploying Django apps with Gunicorn/uWSGI, Nginx, PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Experience configuring internal package repositories (PyPI, Artifactory, Nexus).
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, SSL/TLS management.
• Familiarity with IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet) is a plus.

DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer to maintain, optimize, and support the underlying platforms that drive our software development ecosystem. In this role, you will bridge the gap between software development and core IT operations. You will take ownership of developer tooling (including self-hosted GitLab, private package repositories, and CI/CD pipelines) while working closely with our IT team on underlying servers, storage, networking, and datacenter infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Developer Platform & Pipeline Administration

• GitLab Administration: Manage system health, upgrades, backups, disaster recovery, users/permissions, and dedicated CI/CD runners for self-hosted GitLab.
• CI/CD Optimization: Maintain and continuously improve automated build, test, and deployment pipelines.
• Package Management: Oversee the internal PyPI repository, including package publishing, versioning, access control, and storage management.

Application & Infrastructure Operations

• Django Application Deployment: Deploy and maintain internal web applications using Gunicorn/uWSGI, Nginx, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and managed database migrations.
• Migrations: Lead the migration of the Manufacturing IP Server from aging legacy hardware to modern containerized infrastructure using Docker.
• MES Support: Maintain and troubleshoot Manufacturing Execution System (MES) infrastructure and related application dependencies.

Systems, IT Collaboration & Resilience

• Linux System Administration: Perform OS installation, patching, automated monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting across Linux server fleets.
• IT Collaboration: Work closely with the IT infrastructure team on network topology, server provisioning, storage allocation, security compliance, and datacenter projects.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Design, test, and maintain robust backup and recovery processes across critical engineering and manufacturing platforms.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Technical Skills

• Linux Systems: Strong Linux system administration experience across modern server environments.
• GitLab / SCM: Hands-on experience administering self-hosted GitLab or equivalent enterprise platforms.
• Containerization: Proficiency with Docker and containerizing legacy applications.
• CI/CD & Scripting: Strong experience building automation scripts (Bash, Python) and CI/CD workflows.
• Web Stack Administration: Demonstrated experience deploying Django applications with WSGI/ASGI application servers (Gunicorn/uWSGI), Nginx, and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Internal Tooling: Experience configuring and maintaining internal package repositories (e.g., PyPI, Artifactory, Nexus).
• Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, reverse proxies, and SSL/TLS certificate management.
• Disaster Recovery: Practical understanding of system backups, restoration procedures, and high-availability concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting manufacturing environments or specialized internal tools (e.g., MES,).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills for collaborating with development, QA, and central IT teams.

The base pay range reflects the good-faith estimate of the salary/wage range for this position at the time of posting. Actual placement within the range is determined based on factors including key skills, relevant experience, internal equity, education, certifications, and geography/market differentials.
