Enlighten is seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team in Columbia, MD. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge in Kubernetes and container orchestration, configuration management, CI/CD, automation, AWS, Linux administration, scripting in Bash and programming in Python, and a background in big data solutions.

The role is performed in a hybrid environment (on average 2-3 days a week) with a great team.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: TS/SCI clearance capability; U.S. citizenship.
• 0 years of DevOps or software development experience with a related Bachelor's; or 4 years with HS diploma.
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Experience with AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) for deployment/management.
• Configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Deployment, scaling, and management of applications/containers/OS.
• Programming in Python, Bash, or Go; terminal-based work.
• Strong problem-solving and communications skills.
• DoD 8140/8570 certifications (Security+) within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
• Automate deployment processes and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliability and scale.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate apps into the operational infra.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues and maintain high availability.
• Continuously improve processes and tools to optimize performance.

Anticipated Salary Range: $75,850.00 - $100,000.00. The salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the role's location, expectations, and responsibilities. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for implementing infrastructure, automating deployment processes, and ensuring the monitoring, reliability and scalability of our services. Work is performed in a hybrid environment (on average 2-3 days a week) with a great team.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Support the development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
• Help automate deployment processes and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure the reliability and rapid scaling of services.
• Assist in managing and maintaining Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to seamlessly integrate their applications into the operational infrastructure.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and help resolve them to maintain high availability.
• Continuously improve processes and tools to optimize system performance.
• Stay current with new technologies and industry trends, constantly exploring innovative ways to improve our infrastructure.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level U.S. Government Security Clearance, but not required on day one; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 0 years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development and Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
• Experience with one or more of the following:
• Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and their application to deployment and management of infrastructure.
• Configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
• Ability to develop in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Comfortable operating in a terminal-based environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must have or be able to obtain DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications (i.e., Security+) within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2-3 days per week at our Columbia, MD office. Once clearance comes through, willl visit customer site in Ft. Meade, MD. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed. Onsite frequency and locations may vary based on customer/company support requirements and contract needs.

Preferred Requirements

• Currently holds an active Secret (or higher) U.S. Security Clearance.
• Proficient knowledge of Linux, including system administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, Helm, and other development and deployment tools.
• Experience or familiarity with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, Presto, etc.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites.
