About Us

Operative Games is creating next-generation narrative games powered by AI. Our platform enables dynamic storytelling at scale, supported by cloud-based infrastructure that powers real- time systems and generative content. As we scale, we’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our AWS environment, streamline deployments, and ensure our systems are secure, performant, and highly available.

The Role

As our DevOps Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that underpins our AI-driven game systems. You’ll lead efforts in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and cloud security best practices. This is a hands-on role that involves both strategic architecture and day-to-day systems management.

Key Responsibilities
  • AWS Infrastructure Ownership: Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Implement and manage IaC using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to support repeatable, automated deployments.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to support development workflows for both game and backend services.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Set up observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK) to monitor performance, uptime, and cost.
  • Security & Compliance: Apply cloud security best practices including IAM policies, encryption, secret management, and network configuration.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with engineering teams to support deployment needs, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and guide best practices.
  • Cost Optimization: Monitor and manage cloud usage to ensure efficient and cost- effective infrastructure scaling.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 4+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure management with a strong background in AWS.
  • IaC Expertise: Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar IaC tools.
  • CI/CD Knowledge: Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
  • Security Best Practices: Deep understanding of securing cloud environments and managing sensitive data.
  • Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) to automate infrastructure tasks.
  • Collaborative & Proactive: Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced startup environment.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with game server infrastructure or real-time services
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of backend systems using Node.js, Python, or similar stacks
  • Previous work with ML/AI infrastructure or inference pipelines
  • Interest in supporting creative or narrative-focused tools and teams
Why Join Us?
  • Own and architect infrastructure for a cutting-edge AI narrative platform
  • Join a small, agile team shaping the future of storytelling
  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits
  • Remote-first culture with flexibility and trust
