Qualifications

  • 5+ years in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure/Platform Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines; converting Classic Pipelines to YAML is a plus.
  • Strong infrastructure knowledge including servers, deployment processes, and release management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for enterprise apps.
  • Identify manual infra, deployment, and release processes and develop automation to eliminate manual work.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines and assist with converting Classic Pipelines to YAML as needed.
  • Automate database deployment and release processes with Liquibase and cross-database implementations.
  • Support bi-weekly production releases and reduce manual effort during releases.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline, deployment, infra, and automation issues.
  • Collaborate with application teams and DevOps org to improve deployment and release processes.

Job description

Optomi, in partnership with a leading insurance organization, is seeking an experienced DevOps/Cloud Engineer to join their team in either Charlotte, NC or Hartford, CT. This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days per week onsite. This engineer will support the Engineering & Systems organization by identifying manual infrastructure, deployment, and release processes and developing automation to improve efficiency and consistency. The ideal candidate will have a strong Azure and Azure DevOps background, hands-on infrastructure experience, and the ability to independently identify opportunities for automation and drive solutions from development through implementation.

This role will work closely with application teams and the broader DevOps organization to improve CI/CD processes, infrastructure automation, and production releases. A key priority will be automating database deployment processes and reducing the significant amount of manual work currently required during bi-weekly production releases.

Experience of the right candidate:
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines; experience converting Classic Pipelines to YAML is a plus.
  • Strong infrastructure knowledge, including servers, deployment processes, and release management.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
  • Experience identifying manual processes and developing automation solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Experience with scripting or development using languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience with database deployment automation using Liquibase is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with SQL Server and/or Oracle database environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Helm charts.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based DevOps practices and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong problem-solving and development skills with the ability to create solutions beyond standard pipeline capabilities.
  • Self-starter who can work autonomously, take initiative, and deliver solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple technical teams.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:

  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines and assist with converting existing Classic Pipelines to YAML where needed.
  • Automate database deployment and release processes, with a particular focus on Liquibase and cross-database implementations.
  • Support database deployment processes involving SQL Server and Oracle environments.
  • Develop scripts and other automation solutions to address processes that cannot be fully automated through standard CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support bi-weekly production releases and work to reduce the manual effort required throughout the release lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline, deployment, infrastructure, and automation issues.
  • Partner with application development teams and the broader DevOps organization to improve deployment and release processes.
  • Collaborate across the Engineering & Systems organization to identify opportunities for process and infrastructure automation.
  • Take ownership of assigned automation initiatives and drive solutions through implementation.
  • Work independently and proactively identify areas where automation can improve reliability, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Learn and apply new technologies and tools quickly as the organization's DevOps environment evolves.
