Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Security+ within six months of employment.

About The Role

Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects supporting national security and space exploration initiatives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation pipelines and infrastructure that enable rapid capability development and deployment. Based in Aurora, CO, Morrisville, NC, or Sacramento, CA, this position requires a highly skilled professional capable of integrating development pipelines with automation tools, ensuring robust security measures, and fostering continuous improvement within an Agile development environment. The role involves close collaboration with development teams, vendors, and IT personnel to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient systems that support mission-critical operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access. An active CI Polygraph is also required. U.S. citizenship is mandatory. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience for Principal level or eight years for Senior Principal, or equivalent experience if no degree. Expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform is essential. Additional qualifications include Linux or related OS administration, experience within Agile frameworks, and the ability to obtain Security+ certification within six months of employment. Preferred qualifications include current Security+, proficiency in Terraform, Kubernetes administration, AWS management, Flux, Helm, DynamoDB, NATS configuration, and familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to system security and performance are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and evolve processes and infrastructure to support rapid capability maturation and deployment across programs.
• Integrate development pipelines leveraging automation, test-driven development tools, and continuous integration/test frameworks to streamline software delivery.
• Define and enforce standards for build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring to ensure system reliability and security.
• Implement and maintain Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Agile development teams to automate deployment, infrastructure management, and monitoring frameworks.
• Build and configure delivery environments supporting CI/CD tools following Agile methodologies.
• Create scripts and templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management tasks, reducing manual intervention.
• Work closely with development teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and implement solutions.
• Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
• Develop custom scripts to enhance system efficiency and automate routine tasks.
• Design and contribute to information and operational support systems, ensuring they meet security and operational requirements.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, applications, and system management tools.
• Oversee security protocols, backup strategies, and redundancy plans to safeguard critical systems.
• Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions to optimize system efficiency in collaboration with developers.
