Skill Level: Mid
Location: Tysons, VA (fully on-site, no remote option)

Position Description

The DevOps Systems Engineer is responsible for the applications infrastructure across all networks, providing technical support to make application security compliant and implementing best practices. The role includes contractual responsibility for a 24/7 on‑call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design & Implementation: Design, install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to ensure high availability.
• Security & Redundancy: Implement and maintain robust security measures, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop custom scripts to automate tasks and improve system efficiency.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across hardware, software, and network components.
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, management, and other departments to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for system architecture, procedures, and support.
• Technology Evaluation: Research and assess emerging technologies for potential upgrades or new implementations.

Required Skills

• Experience: 2+ years in system engineering, testing, or DevOps roles.
• CI/CD Knowledge: Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools.
• Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix, version control (Git), and scripting languages (Python, Bash or similar).
• Methodology: Familiarity with Agile development practices.
