Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a leading defense technology organization in the RTP, NC area. This is an open-ended contract requiring an active Secret Clearance, with early flexibility that shifts to a five-day onsite schedule in RTP once the environment is fully operational.

The role emphasizes cloud infrastructure, IaC using Terraform/Terragrunt, Python automation, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or related experience.
• Strong Python automation and scripting experience.
• Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Extensive Kubernetes experience including deployments and troubleshooting.
• Docker/containerization experience.
• Linux administration and shell scripting proficiency.
• Understanding of networking concepts, IAM, security groups, and cloud security fundamentals.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python-based automation and tooling to streamline platform operations.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a leading defense technology organization in the Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC area. The DevOps Engineer will join a team developing a secure Market Access Platform that enables the delivery of SaaS solutions to government customers. This is a long-term, open-ended contract opportunity requiring an active Secret Clearance. During the platform build phase, the role offers some schedule flexibility; however, it is expected to transition to a five-day onsite schedule in RTP once the environment is fully operational.

Responsibilities of the DevOps Engineer include:

• Architect, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure utilizing Terraform and Terragrunt while promoting Infrastructure-as-Code best practices
• Develop Python-based automation, tooling, and services to streamline platform operations and improve deployment efficiency
• Administer, deploy, and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments supporting containerized applications and cloud-native services
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines while partnering with software engineering teams to support application releases and operational readiness
• Monitor platform performance, strengthen security posture, resolve production issues, and support compliance requirements within regulated environments

Qualifications for the DevOps Engineer include:

• Active Secret Clearance is required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 4+ years of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure Engineering, or related experience
• Strong hands‑on experience developing automation and scripting solutions with Python
• Proven experience utilizing Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure provisioning and management
• Extensive experience working within Kubernetes environments, including deployments and troubleshooting
• Experience with Docker and containerization technologies
• Strong Linux administration and shell scripting experience
• Understanding of networking concepts, IAM, security groups, and cloud security fundamentals
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred
• Exposure to GitOps technologies such as ArgoCD or Flux is preferred
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack is preferred
• Familiarity with NIST, FedRAMP, DoD, or related compliance frameworks is preferred
• Experience supporting classified or highly regulated government environments is preferred

Compensation for the DevOps Engineer:

• Salary Range: $155,000 - $185,000
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave as required by law
