Job summary

GDI Infotech is seeking a DevOps and Build Infrastructure Engineer to own a VM-hosted software delivery environment supporting embedded firmware development for the DoD and DoE.

You will design and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines, manage Artifactory and PostgreSQL infrastructure, build containerized environments with Docker, automate tooling in Python, and collaborate with the firmware team to ensure secure releases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of DevOps or build engineering experience.
• Hands-on GitLab CI/CD — pipeline authorship and instance administration.
• JFrog Artifactory administration experience.
• Docker proficiency at registry and containerized build level.
• Python for systems tooling and automation.
• PostgreSQL deployment and administration.
• VM-hosted infrastructure experience.
• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be onsite in Huntsville, AL — relocation candidates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and administer GitLab CI/CD pipelines across Ubuntu, Windows, and Docker.
• Administer JFrog Artifactory (PyPI server, Docker registry, artifact lifecycle).
• Manage PostgreSQL infrastructure supporting Artifactory (deployment, admin).
• Create Docker images, manage registries, and containerized build environments.
• Develop Python tooling to automate the full build, test, and publish pipeline.
• Document processes and collaborate with embedded firmware engineering teams.

GDI Infotech is seeking a DevOps and Build Infrastructure Engineer on behalf of a defense technology organization in Huntsville, AL. This is an urgent, high-ownership role. The successful candidate will take immediate ownership of a VM-hosted software delivery environment supporting embedded firmware development programs for the Department of Defense and Department of Energy.

What You Will Own

• GitLab CI/CD pipeline design, build, and administration (.gitlab-ci.yml, instance admin, Runner configuration across Ubuntu, Windows, and Docker)
• JFrog Artifactory administration — PyPI server, Docker registry, build artifact lifecycle management
• PostgreSQL database infrastructure supporting Artifactory (deployment, administration, pgAdmin)
• Docker image creation, registry management, and containerized build environments
• Python tooling and automation across the full build, test, and publish pipeline
• Documentation and collaboration with the embedded firmware engineering team

Required Qualifications

Preferred
