USC Care Medical Group in California seeks an Electrophysiology Device Tech to support cardiology services by monitoring and programming for device patients, including pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices. You will evaluate programming, check battery status, sensor function, lead impedances, and thresholds; interpret event logs; and ensure correct magnet rate, shocks, and rate response.
Remote monitoring is required and training for cardiology fellows is provided.
The Electrophysiology Device Tech works with the Cardiologists to provide monitoring and programming for device patients. Responsible for the evaluation and optimization in programming for all device patient, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization devices. Skills involving checking Battery Status, confirm appropriate sensing, check lead impedances, measure lead thresholds, assessing appropriate magnet rate for implanted pacemaker/AICD is a necessity. Is also able to check and interpret Event log book, identify lead failures of implanted pacemaker/AICD, identify appropriate vs. inappropriate shocks in AICDs, ability to Program/reprogram devices based on interrogated data of implanted pacemaker/AICD, turn on/off shock therapy for AICD, reprogram LV lead to avoid diaphragmatic stimulation, interpret Histograms and program rate response accordingly of implanted pacemaker/AICD. Responsible for remote monitoring of applicable device patients via the Internet. Assist in training of cardiology fellows in the device clinic. Responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care for patients and on-going management and evaluation of inpatients with devices as applicable.
