Job summary

Bayer is seeking a motivated student for a 12-month Device Research and Early Develop Co-op at 1 Bayer Drive, Indianola, PA. You will design prototype components, develop tests, run experiments, and analyze results to support medical device development.

Required: active enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program and strong engineering/science background; Python experience is a plus. Onsite position with potential for contributions to regulated development efforts.

Device Research and Early Develop Co-Op

POSITION PURPOSE

We are seeking a motivated student to join our team focused on the development and characterization of medical devices. This position offers an opportunity to gain industry experience in testing, data analysis, and documentation within the regulated field of medical device development. The successful candidate will contribute to organizational research and development goals while gaining hands-on experience supporting both current and future medical device products.

Co-op Program Details

12-Month Co-op Assignment

Location: 1 Bayer Drive, Indianola, PA 15051

Onsite Position

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop prototype components or subassemblies for test fixtures and future medical devices;
• Develop test methods and protocols used for the evaluation of medical devices;
• Set up and execute experimental testing in a laboratory environment to generate performance data for medical devices;
• Contribute to the development of data analysis tools that improve the efficiency of evaluating experimental results;
• Prepare formal test reports documenting testing activities and results;
• Prepare and present findings to cross-functional program teams;
• Contribute to deliverables supporting fielded products and documentation requirements for products currently under development.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program and returning to the academic program following completion of the Co-op assignment;
• Knowledge and application of engineering and scientific concepts;
• Ability to apply technology, engineering concepts, and methodologies to develop solutions;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team-oriented environment.

Preferred

• Experience with data analysis and application development using Python;
• Previous laboratory or medical device experience;
• Experience with hardware design and rapid prototyping, including mechanical and/or electrical design and fabrication.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately between $24.00 to $45.50.

Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).

Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. (if relevant).
