Job summary

Walmart in Shreveport, LA seeks a maintenance technician to perform routine preventive maintenance, inspect and repair facilities and equipment, and document activities under supervision. You’ll use various tools and follow safety guidelines to keep operations safe and efficient.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license and ability to read and speak English; 1 year in plumbing/electrical or 2 years Walmart store experience.

Position Summary...
What you’ll do...

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of a more senior technician by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines. Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures. Observes and documents signs of wear and tear. Documents preventive maintenance activities. Performs minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of a more senior technician by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment). Inspects, operates, or tests facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues. Dismantles equipment, machines, or facilities to access and remove defective parts. Diagnoses problems utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as needed. Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment. Responds to emergency calls involving facilities, equipment, or fixtures. Documents repair activities. Uses heavy machinery. Provides assistance on work orders and routine maintenance schedules by completing and providing required written and electronic information (for example, expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs) under the supervision of a more senior technician. Requests parts for maintenance or repair work. Records parts usage. Conducts price comparisons of parts and travel-related costs. Submits warranty claims. Complies with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and guidelines. Ensures quality work is completed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and codes. Unloads and stores equipment. Transports equipment between facilities. Demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity. Uses the Open Door Policy. Assists management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems. Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinates and transports vehicles for required maintenance, ensuring beforehand that alternate driving support is arranged. Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures that the vehicle has all required documents. Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights. Submits maintenance invoices for payment. Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance. Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies and procedures. Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (for example, forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures. Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards. Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices. Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. The hourly wage range for this position is $23.00 - $45.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and able to pass motor vehicle report.

Preferred Qualifications...
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
