Job summary

City of Concord is seeking a Planning Clerk to support planning and zoning operations in Concord, NC. The role involves preparing information from site plans, reviewing procedures, and assisting applicants through the approval process.

You will collaborate with developers, engineers, and surveyors, research local ordinances, and maintain department schedules and permits, ensuring accurate records and timely responses.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of civil engineering basics and planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares site-plan information for planning and zoning approvals and inspects construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares information from site plans submitted for planning and zoning approval and performs inspections on


• construction projects.


• Meets with developers, engineers, and surveyors to describe or review procedures and promote new development.


• Provides customers with information on the planning and zoning approval process.


• Researches ordinances, regulations, and processes and recommends improvements.


• Provides administrative support by maintaining department schedules, coordinating meetings and agendas, preparing reports, researching information, and processing a variety of permits and certificates.


• Assigns case numbers to applications and enters customer requests for plan approval into database.

Supplemental Functions:

• Performs other similar duties as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications:

Knowledge:

• Basic civil engineering principles;

Licensing and Certifications:

• Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
