Job summary

SkyWater Technology seeks a Development Diffusion Sr Staff Engineer to lead the development of 200mm diffusion processes in a high-customization environment. You will characterize processes, ensure manufacturability and reliability, and work with internal customers to accelerate learning in new generation processes.

The role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on data analysis, and collaboration with diverse teams to deliver high-quality results and meet customer specifications.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field.
  • 5+ years with BS, 5–8 years with MS, 3+ years with PhD in semiconductor industry.
  • 5+ years with LPCVD and Diffusion processes or equivalent.
  • Gate stack development using wet/dry gate oxides, nitridation and polysilicon techniques.
  • Material characterization techniques: ellipsometry, dielectric tools, or SIMS.
  • Knowledge of DOE, SPC, and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • U.S. Person required under ITAR.

Job description

Development Diffusion Sr Staff Engineer

SkyWater is hiring a Development Diffusion Sr Staff Engineer to lead development of 200mm processes within a low volume, high customization environment. An engineer in this role is responsible for process characterization to ensure high quality standards, manufacturability and reliability. Must work with internal customers to improve cycles of learning in developing next generation processes within the Diffusion area.

Major Areas of Accountability
  • Will be technical R&D leader/expert to develop, integrate and re‑optimize robust manufacturable processes to meet customer specifications for Diffusion and LPCVD applications.
  • Perform experiments and data analysis to qualify process changes and troubleshoot integration issues.
  • Provide technical leadership to mentor the Diffusion team.
  • Qualify and document processes for newly acquired equipment.
  • Collaborate with other functions to solve complex problems and make appropriate engineering-based decisions in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement of process capability and controls.
  • Work with minimal supervision, balancing competing priorities, to serve the needs of the company.
Required Qualifications
  • BS or MS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Materials Science, Physics or another relevant engineering discipline is required.
  • 8+ years’ experience with BS, 5‑8 years of experience with MS, 3+ years of experience with PhD of education in the semiconductor industry.
  • 5+ years of experience with LPCVD and Diffusion processes or equivalent.
  • Expert in gate stack development utilizing wet/dry gate oxides, gate nitridation, polysilicon/amorphous silicon techniques.
  • Experienced with material characterization techniques, such as ellipsometry and dielectric characterization tools or similar techniques such as SIMS.
  • Knowledge of DOE, SPC, and 6‑sigma concepts and applications.
  • Positive interpersonal skills, highly energetic and self‑motivated.
  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet commitments and deliver results.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously and shift priorities to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree preferred (MS/PhD) in a related field.
  • Expertise with preclean processing and its interactions.
  • Experience with automated fault detection and control systems (FDC).
  • Experience in JMP or equivalent statistical software.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this role is $114,320 – $171,480. Pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, the job‑related experience, skills, education, and credentials of each candidate.
