Job summary

Nurses for Newborns of Tennessee is seeking a Development Manager to join our Development Team. You will support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, events, and communications under the Development Director’s guidance, helping strengthen donor relationships and reporting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support donor engagement, stewardship, appeals, campaigns, and fundraising activities.

  • Provide excellent customer service to donors, volunteers, community partners, and NFN supporters.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director and finance staff on gift records and reporting.
  • Coordinate fundraising and stewardship events, sponsorships, and post-event evaluation.
  • Support outreach materials and donor communications, including newsletters and campaigns.
  • Draft grant letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and supporting materials.
  • Assist with grant research and review funder guidelines for alignment with NFN’s mission.

Job description

The Development Manager is a key member of the Development Team responsible for supporting NFN’s fundraising, donor stewardship, special events, communications, outreach, grant writing, and development operations. Under the direction of the Development Director, this position helps strengthen relationships with donors, funders, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.

The Development Manager coordinates assigned fundraising campaigns and events, creates mission-driven communications, drafts and supports grant proposals and reports, and helps maintain strong systems for donor engagement, gift tracking, reporting, and stewardship. This position supports the execution of fund development priorities established by the Development Director and helps ensure assigned projects are completed accurately, professionally, and on time.

Job Responsibilities
Key Results Area:
  • Support donor engagement, stewardship, appeals, campaigns, and fundraising activities.
  • Maintain and support accurate donor, gift, event, and constituent records in the CRM.
  • Assist with gift tracking, donor acknowledgments, reports, memorials, honorariums, and donor follow-up.
  • Help ensure development records are accurate, timely, confidential, and useful for fundraising and stewardship.
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors, volunteers, community partners, and other NFN supporters.
  • Work collaboratively with the Development Director and finance staff to support accurate gift records and reporting.
Events, Sponsorships & Community Engagement
  • Coordinate and implement assigned fundraising and stewardship events under the direction of the Development Director.
  • Support sponsorship solicitation and fulfillment, including sponsorship materials, benefit tracking, recognition, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate event logistics such as registration, attendee tracking, volunteers, timelines, and post-event evaluation.
  • Assist with event committees, volunteer coordination, donor/sponsor communication, and on-site event support.
  • Represent NFN professionally at events, outreach activities, and community engagement opportunities.
Communications, Marketing & Outreach Support
  • Create and coordinate fundraising-related communications, including donor updates, appeal materials, newsletters, event promotions, social media content, email campaigns, and website updates.
  • Help develop print and digital materials that reflect NFN’s mission, vision, values, and brand identity.
  • Support storytelling and donor communications that show the impact of NFN’s work with babies and families.
  • Track and report basic communications, outreach, campaign, and event metrics as needed.
  • Assist with outreach materials and presentations for donors, partners, volunteers, and community groups.
  • Draft and prepare grant letters of inquiry, proposals, applications, reports, acknowledgments, and supporting materials under the strategic direction and review of the Development Director.
  • Conduct grant research as assigned and help review funder guidelines for alignment with NFN’s mission, programs, funding priorities, and eligibility requirements.
  • Maintain grant calendars, deadlines, submission records, reporting requirements, and related tasks.
  • Coordinate with the Development Director, Executive Director, Nursing Director, and other team members to gather program data, outcomes, stories, budgets, attachments, and supplemental materials.
  • Help ensure grant submissions and reports are accurate, compelling, timely, and mission-driven.
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, careful project manager, and relationship builder who enjoys working across multiple areas of nonprofit development. This person should be comfortable moving between donor communications, event logistics, grant writing, CRM details, and community engagement.

We are looking for someone who is organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while keeping the mission of Nurses for Newborns at the center of the work.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, grant writing, event planning, or related experience preferred.
