Position Summary

Based in Port Angeles, Washington, the Development Manager is a permanent full-time position responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the Land Trust's fundraising efforts, with a primary focus on individual giving. This position builds a culture of philanthropy by meeting fundraising goals, cultivating new and existing supporters, and maintaining strong annual and evergreen donor relationships.

The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director. The position requires a highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual who can contribute effectively in a dynamic work environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the Land Trust's individual donor program for annual, campaign, and planned giving goals.
• Advance the Land Trust toward the benchmarks established in its strategic plan.
• Lead the individual giving program by building authentic relationships with donors, understanding their philanthropic interests, and creating personalized engagement plans based on donor profiles, motivations, and giving histories.
• Identify and prioritize prospective donors with the capacity and inclination to increase their support, and assist the Executive Director and Board in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding these relationships.
• Oversee mass-fundraising efforts (appeal letters, community-wide giving days, fundraising at community events) with support from the Community Relations and Administrative staff.[KH3]
• Serve as the fundraising lead for Land Trust events, working closing with event planners.
• Collaborate with the Community Relations Director to create donor communication, messaging, and storytelling.
• Lead the organization's fundraising efforts with private foundations and businesses, acting as the primary foundation grant writer.
• Accurately report on fundraising progress.
• Collaborate with Administrative staff to maintain our Salesforce and paper records of contributors and grants.
• Work with the Executive Director on fundraising strategy and goals, including support of the Land Trust's planning for a future capital campaign.

Qualifications:

• Strong interest in the mission and vision of North Olympic Land Trust.
• Preferably three to five years of development or relevant experience.
• Demonstrated success with fundraising and management of donor portfolios.
• A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and motivational skills, including:
• Demonstrated ease and skill in conveying the Land Trust's mission to a wide variety of constituents.
• A self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work closely with executive leadership and a committed and engaged group of volunteer solicitors.
• Strong written communications and presentation skills.
• Experience with prospect/donor management fundraising software applications.
• Experience using donor tracking software such as Salesforce as well as Microsoft Suite.
• Ability and willingness to occasionally work non-standard hours for Land Trust events, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Work Requirements

The Development Manager works primarily in a professional office setting, with occasional travel to off-site meetings and job-related activities. Duties are often sedentary and require the ability to use a keyboard, complete written documents, operate general office equipment, and lift 15-20 lbs.

Compensation

$31.25-33.50/hour with benefits including healthcare, retirement and paid time-off.
