Job summary

The UCLA Labor Center seeks an Associate Director of Development to expand the fundraising program, including major gifts and capital campaigns. The role collaborates with leadership to research donors, secure gifts, and steward relationships across a diverse funding base.

The incumbent will oversee events, manage donor communications, and work in a hybrid setting based at the James Lawson Jr. Worker Justice Center in Pico Union, contributing to mission-driven labor education and policy impact.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience as a development officer.
  • Experience in labor, non-profit, community organizations, or higher education fundraising.
  • Experience with major gifts and moves management.
  • Experience with donor databases and tracking solicitation cycles.
  • Excellent oral communication, diplomacy, and mission alignment.
  • Ability to research prospective funders and summarize findings.
  • Proven record in donor solicitations and frontline fundraising.
  • Strong collaboration across a large organization and teams.
  • Detail oriented with initiative and deadline discipline.
  • Confidential handling of donor information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new tools.
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings.
  • Support donor events and related programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of donors; grow giving across commitments.
  • Research and identify institutional, foundation, and individual funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate with leadership to plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Prepare proposals, stewardship reports and donor communications.
  • Track progress with reports and data to inform strategy and goals.
