Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a Development Intern to aid in the Resettlement, Asylum & Integration program in New York & New Jersey. The role includes maintaining the story catalog, liaising with program departments, and developing donor communications.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in fundraising strategies within a leading non-profit organization. Additional responsibilities involve supporting fundraising events and assisting with analytics. Ideal candidates must be based in the U.S. and enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

Job description

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Development Intern to support our Resettlement, Asylum & Integration (RAI) program in New York & New Jersey. The intern will work closely with the Development Team to grow IRC NYNJ’s private fundraising portfolio, contributing to storytelling, fundraising campaigns, events, prospecting, analytics, and private grants.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the story catalog with client stories and case studies in line with the Development Storytelling Strategy.
  • Liaise with program departments to curate stories.
  • Develop assets for donor communications, including annual reports, welcome packets, one‑pager briefs, and other marketing materials.
  • Track RSVPs and support planning, briefing, day‑of, and post‑event activities for fundraising events.
  • Prospect individual donors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Assist with fundraising analytics and private grant deliverables, including preparing deliverable sheets and maintaining grant trackers.
  • Perform bi‑weekly in‑person tasks from the New York City office, such as mailing and other administrative projects as needed.

Requirements
  • Volunteers and interns must be based in the United States.
  • Interns must be enrolled in a post‑secondary institution or have graduated from one within the last two years.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Posted pay ranges apply to US‑based candidates.
  • 10 sick days and 10 US holidays.
